it's not just one psycho killer but a gang of seven. if the chennai police is to be believed. a little mob of rowdies in the city have 'graduated' as murderers after beginning as late night muggers of inebriated men for petty gains that sometimes yielded as little a couple of hundred ruppes.
with barely a day to go before the agitation AIADMK leader Ms jayalithaa for the 'inability of the goverment to protect people from the psycho killer' , the chennai police to have nabbed two members of a gang of seven allegedly responsible for the gruesome killing of at least two of the eight 'psycho murders' during the last six weeks.
'karuppu' naagu [26] and rajesh [23] were picked up by night patrol police at saidapet late week. the two were moving about in a supicious manner. they were walking along the road and were visibly alarmed at sighting the patrol vehicle, a senior officer said, requesting anonymity. city police commissioner R.sekar has called for a press conference on thursday presumably to release the 'official' account of the cracking of the psycho case.
police said the gang of seven, formed over the last six months in a bonding of crime, would frequent the night shows in srinivasa theatre at west saidapet in two autorrickshaws. they had started as muggers, waylaying inebriated men returning from work or cinema. the victim before relieving him of valuables. careful to avoid a fight with a strong adversary, the gang always chose a weakling or found it easier to attack drunken men sleeping by the road. the first recorded psycho murder happened in june but then there could have been many more in the past considering that this gang has been on the night prowl for over six months the officer said, adding that it was just a matter of time before the others in the killer gang were caught.
