Akshay Kumar’s fifthe hit in row, Sing Is Kinng has been given the widest release ever for a Hindi film, worldwide, by its distributors, Indian Films. The film has been released with 1,350 prints across 1,700 screens. The film has shattered all previous opening weekend box office records by raking in an opening weekend gross ticket sales of Rs 59.5 crores worldwide! The film has created mass hysteria in Delhi, UP, Rajasthan, Punjab, UK, Canada, the US and even Pakistan. Shows start as early as 7 am and with the last show of the day being conducted in Pakistan at 1am, all to packed houses. In Mumbai, some multiplexes are running 28 shows a day to occupancy of 95 percent. The opening weekend gross ticket sales in India are Rs 45 crores across 1,400 screens. In the UK, Singh Is Kinng released with 70 prints, where it grossed $62,533 in its preview and notched a solid $430,748 over the weekend, taking its opening weekend grand total to an gigantic $493,281, placing it at No.8 in the coveted UK TOP 10. In Canada and the US, the released with 112 prints to a thunderous response, grossing $1.2 million on its opening weekend, while in Pakistan, where it was released with 15 prints, it has created havoc.
In Lahore’s Dha Cinema, tickets are sold out for the entire week in advance and has had to run a 1 am show to accommodate the audience.
