Veteran Actor Manoj Kumar on Tuesday filed two cases against actor Shah Rukh Khan, Gauri Khan and film maker Farah Khan for failing to delete scenes from the film Om Shanti Om that defamed him.
“We have filed a suit against Shah Rukh, Gauri and Farah before the Andheri mentropolitan court under sections 420 (cheating), 499 (defamation) and 500 (punishment for defamation) of the Indian Penal Code,” said MrKumar’s lawyer Ashok Sarogi.
He also added that a defamation case had been filed before the sessions ckourt at Dindoshi seeking Re 1 as a token for damage to Mr Kumar’s reputation, which cannot be accounted for in terms of money.
It came as a relif to Mr Kumar last week that the court had allowed his application seeking the deletion of scenes that make a mockery of him, while telecasting the film on television.
However, now he has filed the suit against the trio for breaching his trust.
According to the application, Shah Rukh had personally assured Mr Kumar that the scene would be deleted before it was screened in theatres. However, the movie was screened in all theatres without deleting the scene.
The film has been running for the past nine months, inclusive of the defamatory sequence, said Mr Sarogi, adding that Shah Rukh later said the copyright to the film was with the production company and he could do nothing.
