The capital and suburbs, which received torrential rain on Tuesday are likely to receive more rain in the evenings or night in the next 24 to 48 hours due to the influence of a trough of low-pressure in the Bay of Bengal, asper weather forecast.
The city recorded 10 cm rainfall during the last 24 hours ending 8.30 a.m on Wednesday, according to Me officials.
The low-pressure trough, which extended from coastal Andhra Pradesh to south Tamil Nadu has intensified further and would cause more rains in Puducherry, they said.
Meawhile, the civic authorities swung into action and cleared about 25 trees that got uprooted due to torrentail rain in the city on Tuesday. Informing that roads have been cleared of the uprooted trees, Chennai Mayor M.Subramanian said the sudden rain accompanied by gales on Tuesday had caused the trees to fall in the roads.
